Athletes of our university Mahmud Sabyrkhan and SerikAbzal won 2 medals at the Asian Championship among boxers under 22 years old, which was held from January 18 to 26 in Bangkok.

Mahmud Sabyrkhan won the gold medal, and SerikAbzal won the silver medal.

The winners of the competition were met at the airport by the teaching staff headed by the Chairman of the Board of the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, KozhamzharovaDaria Perneshkyzy, representatives of the boxing Federation, relatives, friends, journalists and fans. Fans prepared various posters for the meeting, sang patriotic songs and prepared a surprise. The fans, as always, met their idols and congratulated them. The boxers, who had been away for a long time and maybe tired of the competition, were in high spirits.

"I am very grateful to all the fans who supported us. We know perfectly well that you were worried about us and wished  victory. As for the competition in Bangkok, I performed there in the weight category up to 57 kg. This is the weight that is included in the Olympic program. This is a new weight category for me, and this has its own difficulties. Nevertheless, I think I have shown good results. The goal is the same as it was before - winning Olympic gold," said the leader of the national team Mahmud Sabyrkhan. Happy victory!
