General information
Department of "Theater and Variety Creativity" is a structural unit of the Faculty of "Pedagogy and Culture" of South Kazakhstan State University named after M.Auezov. The department is formed on August 28, 2017 according to the decision of the Academic Council of the University. The head of the department is Ph.D. Turdaliyeva Sh.Zh. appointed. Specialty 5В090600 - "Cultural and leisure work" prepares bachelors in specialties "Head of theatrical collective", "Head of the ensemble of vocal instruments and pop singing". The department consists of highly qualified scientists-teachers - candidates of pedagogical sciences, professor Kamalova NK, candidates of pedagogical sciences, associate professors Bagov IT, Mukhameddin MM, Turdaliyeva Sh.Z., laureates of international and national competitions of art. Zhandarbekov AA, Emkulova AI, Zhumabay L.Zh., Turekhanov KE, Bekseytov NB, Best of Culture Alzhanova BT Master-teachers Musakulova DA, Konyspayeva AA, Mekenbaeva EA, also experienced senior lecturers EE Toleuov, Otarbaeva BK serves. The department is engaged in creative and scientific activities as well as specialists training. The teaching staff of the department since September 2017 has prepared 2 manuals, 8 guidelines, 6 articles from the near and far abroad countries (Poland, Russia, Czech Republic etc.). Students of specialties of the department received special places and prizes from republican competitions (KVN, youth theater, poetry, scientific projects.

The department is the Republican educational-methodical center on specialty 5В090600 - "Cultural-leisure work". The basic principle of the department is to prepare specialists in the field of competitive, creative, qualified culture and art, meeting modern requirements.
Teaching staff of the department
There are 5 candidates of sciences, 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 1 Honored Artist of the RK, 1 Cultural figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2 laureates of international competitions, 1 Honorary educator of RK.
Involvement of cultural and art figures, who are well-known for teaching, will make a positive impact on the learning process.
Teachers of the department are actively involved in all cultural events held in the university, city, region and republic.
Teachers and students of the department "Theater and variety creativity" regularly conduct chef service for school № 69 in Shymkent and Sairam orphanage, Koksayek children's home in Tolebi district. On November 18, 2017 teachers of the Department of "Theater and Variety Creativity" of SKSU named after M.Auezov held professional-pedagogical work at school No. 69 in Dostyk microdistrict of Shymkent. The meeting with school graduates was organized and information materials about thе university were created.

Student Life
5 student circles have been created at the department to combine teaching with practice. This is a research studio "Izdenis", satirical theater "Kysyk mirna", "Shymkent", students 2 CTL, and also the youth folk theater "Duman".
Annually students of the department "Theater and variety creativity" take part in the Republican student subject Olympiad and take 1st place (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.

The People's Theater "Duman" was organized in 2002 at the Department of Theater and Variety Creativity. Teachers and students take part in the theater. In 2008, under the decision of the Certifying Commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the title of "People's" was awarded.
